Mr James A Moore MD FRCS(Urol)
Consultant Urological Surgeon
James Moore is dedicated to providing the highest possible standard of care to every patient in his care. James prides himself on the personal relationship he develops with his patients, understanding that the trust and confidence you have in your doctor is vital throughout your treatment. He particularly focuses on the care you receive pre- and post-operatively, in order to optimise the outcome of your surgery and provide you with a smooth recovery after your operation.
James graduated from the University of Wales Medical School in Cardiff and then underwent basic surgical training on the St Bartholomew’s circuit in London including an 18-month post with the urology team at Great Ormond Street Hospital. James then won a prestigious Royal College of Surgeons Fellowship and joined Professor Alison Brading’s world renowned Continence Group at the University of Oxford. James did important scientific research into the basic mechanisms of bladder sensation both in health and in diseases such as overactive bladder and interstitial cystitis, the results being presented and published internationally. His interest in clinical research continues.
James has been comprehensively trained in the most advanced techniques in benign urological surgery; both in the Oxford Urology Program and during the time he spent working in New Zealand. James undertook a year long urology fellowship at the Christchurch Urology and Burwood Spinal Injuries Centre, treating patients with complex problems from all over NZ. He is one of the few UK urologists that have had formal training in female pelvic floor reconstruction.
James Moore is a fully accredited specialist in urology, and is on the specialist register in Urological Surgery with the General Medical Council. He is a full member of both the British Association of Urological Surgeons and the International Continence Society. When not at work, James spends as much time as possible with his young family.
